WALKER:
An octagonal roof spanning 8 metres for a new garden room extension. The clients brief was for a really striking roof with plenty of curves and interesting features, and plenty of oak!
Although the walls it sits on are of steel (creating a ring beam), the structure is capable of resisting the outward thrust at the eaves as designed and built, with no steel in it, only pegged joinery.
We had to use a 50 tonne crane (bigger than usual) to raise it due to some large ash trees and the distance of the building from the nearest hard standing.
